RE: Record cold? Not even close. By Sebastian Bron. The Hamilton Spectator 26 Jan 22.
The Spectator is trying its best to make global warming seem like a cool idea. The cold January of 2022, didn’t even crack the top (or bottom) 25 coldest Januarys since 1959, the story says. The coldest January was in 1994, so the global warming that has allegedly occurred since then has made this January more tolerable than it would have been otherwise. Not bad.
What’s wrong with Hamilton having a climate something like that enjoyed in Ohio, I ask? It’s better than having a climate like that of Sudbury in winter!
It’s amusing to read grousing about temperatures falling to -20℃. In the three weeks that followed December 22, -20℃ was a good daily high around in southern Alberta, with nightly lows sinking to or below -35℃. Try cranking an engine in that kind of cold. After three weeks of that, at -10℃ it’s pleasant enough outside that lips can enjoy embracing a smoking stogie for more than an hour. At -5℃, the temperatures Hamilton is complaining about, we’re ready to break out the tanning lotion.
Get used to that Alberta-style winter weather! Alberta’ll send you as much of it as she can. Sort-of as creative marketing. That’s Alberta natural gas that’s keepin’ y’all warm and cozy in Ontario. Burn it like it’s going out of style!
Global warming is a cool idea. Let’s have more of it. Alberta is all in!
