Becoming Baghdad Bob

Vincent J. Curtis

13 Feb 22

The Spectator is rapidly becoming the Baghdad Bob of the old Narrative.  It’s been hip-deep producing COVID panic porn, and any voice that differs from the official narrative of on high gets silenced for spreading “misinformation.”  It doesn’t matter how qualified the misinformer may be, their very dissent is sufficient to condemn them.

Mind you, the people being supported by the old Narrative are the same people who, in the first wave, used the force of law to close city parks and ban all outdoor recreational activity, despite knowing that COVID was a respiratory disease that affected almost exclusively the old.  The Spec and they still can’t get their heads around the folly of masking, in which any mask will do.  How a mask that doesn’t make a close seal to the face is supposed to seal out viruses – or in, as the case may be - is supposed to stop the spread never gets asked.  Never mind that the science of masking in support of the official policy never materialized, even after two years.  These same experts ordered lockdowns of everything and are still claiming success of the policy despite the findings of Johns Hopkins, Stanford University, and Ontario’s own COVID data.  You can’t keep the con going if you’ve admitted you conned people in the past!

The Spec continues with the panic porn over ‘climate change’ and continues to recommend Canada take on the solution to climate change alone, as if COP26 never happened.

The Truckers for Freedom are treated like criminal garbage in the editorial slant, and in all the letters to the editor.  It never occurs to a single reporter to ask Trudeau why he just can’t compromise on the one point the truckers are protesting.

People are noticing, and the credibility of the media, once lost, is hard to regain.  The people running the Spectator have no investment in its future.  So long as their pensions are secure, that’s all they care about.  The history of the paper, which began in 1846, means nothing to them.  The credibility of the paper would mean something if it was your legacy at stake.
