Just the other day, Dr. Anthony Fauci announced the withdrawal of the first generation of monoclonal antibodies as a therapeutic against the Omicron variant. Fauci said that these first generation products were developed against the alpha variant and were not effective against Omicron. However, the mRNA vaccines were also developed against the alpha variant and, by the same reasoning, ought to have been withdrawn as well. They weren’t, and Fauci didn’t say why. Too embarrassing, I guess, to leave the Biden Administration without approved vaccines as Biden seeks to mandate vaccination. Hence the madcap vaxxing and boosting campaign continues - in spite of rising evidence of a boomerang effect of using them.
The mRNA vaccines of Pfizer and Moderna wouldn’t be approved if brought to the market today against the Omicron variant for lack of efficacy. They’ve already been proven to lack endurance, with Israel already giving a second booster shot, i.e. a fourth dose, against unprecedented hospitalization of Omicron cases there. The vaccines don’t prevent infection, don’t prevent the spread of the infection, and didn’t induce herd immunity. Against Omicron, booster shots seem to produce barely thirty days of addition protection.
A boomerang effect occurs when an immune system, boosted against alpha, responds to an Omicron infection with anti-bodies against alpha. You get all the complications of heightened immune response without the benefit of destroying the infection. This could explain why boosters are proving ineffective, and may be producing more severe hospitalizations despite the fact that Omicron is less severe to the unvaxxed than alpha and delta are.
Today, Prime Minister Trudeau demonstrated complete lack of faith in his own policies of vaxxing, boosting, mask wearing, and testing. He encountered an asymptomatic COVID carrier and is now isolating, despite testing negative. We don’t know for certain how long he’s self-quarantining, it's allegedly for five days (it may depend on the truckers!). But if vaxxing, boosting, and mask wearing were worth anything, what’s to fear an exposure to the least dangerous of COVId carriers – an asymptomatic one?
Maybe it’s the encounter with the truckers
that gives rise to this example of yellow-bellied cowardice, or of responsible citizenship,
as you prefer.
