Hatred for the unvaxxed may have hit peak insanity with the announcement by Quebec Premier François Legault of a “significant” tax on the unvaccinated. Never mind that this tax won’t be collected until 2023, the laws that have to be broken to collect it are numerous. Privacy Acts must be violated to transfer private health information to the tax department. Then there are all the human rights codes puffing about equal treatment. And then there’s the problem of taxing someone who was never hospitalized.
Underlying this is that the vaccines aren’t working. Saying they reduce severity is a dodge. They were supposed to induce herd immunity, but haven’t. Even boosted people are getting infected and are passing on the infection. The majority of people hospitalized and in ICU are vaccinated. The unvaxxed are disproportionately represented, but why are the vaxxed represented at all? Despite an 85 percent vaccination rate, the latest wave is the worst. Vaxxing the last 15 percent of people who aren’t vulnerable to hospitalization anyway because of youth and underlying good health won’t answer the latest wave.
Yelling at the unvaccinated is a way of deflecting attention from the fact that nothing the authorities have done to control the waves of the pandemic have worked. Lockdowns only created massive problems; they solved none. They mandated masks that didn’t work, and they knew it! The vaccines aren’t really working out.
The medical and political authorities
failed, and are yelling and gesticulating to hide their failures.
