RE: It’s time to embrace equitable, low-carbon lifestyles. Op-ed by Stephen Huddart, who is a founding member of the transition innovation group hosted by community foundations of Canada. The Hamilton Spectator, 24, Jan 22.
The Spectator has been absolutely shameless of late in its promotion of the hypothesis of global warming. It’s been running pictures of enormous piles of snow, of people with masks caked with ice, and reports of wind chill hitting -35℃. No doubt about it, this planet’s going be cooked in eight years!
The latest piece of silliness is the article encouraging us that, in spite of the failure that is COP26, we Canadians need to embrace “equitable and low-carbon lifestyles.” We need heed this urgent call to action!! The writer never says what makes his recommendations “equitable,” however.
The author is like a radio: all transmission, no reception, and the programming never changes. Ignore the failure of COP26, we have to do this anyway! Out comes the parade of horribles: three degrees! Future generations! Planetary limits! It’s all because of you and your fat lifestyles! Eat less meat! Eat more locally grown (and preferably organic) vegetables! Consume less dairy! Don’t travel! Shop less! You’ve got to send these important signals to policy makers!
The writer goes totally fact-free when he says that “a surprising and unexpected result of COVID-19 lockdowns was a steep, temporary decline in carbon emissions.” Experts say that CO2 emissions didn’t drop, surprisingly despite the lockdowns; and if the lockdowns persisted, why was the decline only temporary?
The climate crazies are certifiably
loonie-tunes. They don’t adapt their opinions
in response to new facts. And there’s
nothing equitable about remaining ignorant.
