RE: Please don't consign Hamilton to the Grey Zone. Spectator editorial of this date. The editorial used the word 'covidiots' to describe people who disagree with them.
The editorial would be more persuasive if the argument wasn’t so arrogant, foolish, lacking in proportion, and hadn’t been proven wrong before.
The argument is that restaurants, bars, and churches have to close because allowing them to open will cause someone’s grandma to die in a locked down LTC facility. But big businesses need to be kept open, obviously. Let’s be practical!
It refuses to admit that masking was a complete failure. Not because people didn’t mask up, but because the masks themselves were useless against viruses. This fact was suppressed by big media everywhere.
Media have not put hard questions to any of the medical authorities, like, “why are you still insisting on measures that have proven not to work in the past?” and “Why didn’t you plan to expand your "system” to deal with a second wave?”
The “iron ring” around LTC facilities doesn’t fail because of lack of measures and enforcement, but maybe because those who claim to know what they’re doing really don’t. They had us blow our brains out with lockdowns in the spring, and now it’s coming back when we exhausted all our reserves. So much for their strategic planning.
Since March, Canada has had 196,000 deaths from all causes, of which only 12,000 were COVID related. There was a small surge of “excess deaths” in April, but since then the total death rate has fallen back into the normal range. So, what’s with this fixation on this one cause of death?
If the appellation “covidiots” belongs on anyone, it’s on those fixated on this one cause of death when it’s time for life to reopen, to cope and to move on. Get the jackboot off our faces!
