RE: Natural gas sticker shock triggers anger. News item by Jeremy Kemeny. The Hamilton Spectator 17 Jan 23.
If you don’t like the high price of natural gas, thank Joe Biden and Justin Trudeau. It’s their policy to eliminate so-called fossil fuels, and that means choking off supply. When demand goes up and supply gets choked, prices go up. Surprise!
Alberta has plenty of natural gas, so much so that shipping LNG overseas is one pipeline away. But Joe Biden campaigned on eliminating fossil fuels, and, besides cancelling new pipelines, has forbidden fracking and drilling on U.S. federal lands. Nat gas is priced continentally, and pipelines from Alberta to Ontario run through the U.S. because of the Canadian Shield north of Lake Superior.
That high price you see was promised by candidate Barack Obama who in 2008 promised electricity bills to necessarily skyrocket as his cap-and-trade program on fossil fues tightened the screws. All because of the stupid notion of “climate change.”
The solar system is going to do what it’s going to do, and even 400 more ppm of CO2 isn’t going to change the atmospheric physics.
If you want affordable natural gas, if you
want affordable goods, you have to vote for the here and now and the reality of
2023, not airy-fairy nonsense about the year 2100.

Let me warn my Ontario friends that if they keep voting Liberal, they risk losing their country. Such is the mood out West at the provocative, harmful, and vengeful policies of Justin Trudeau towards the West. "Divide and conquer" works only so long as the conquered accept their fate. Albertans still remember the NEP of 1982 imposed by Justin's father. That won't be tolerated again.
