After publicly saying that half of Donald Trump’s supporters belong to
a ‘basket of deplorables’ the outcry from even friendly media sites for that
slur caused Hillary Clinton to issue the following graceless statement:
“Last night, I was grossly generalistic, and that’s never a
good idea. I regret saying “half” – that
was wrong. But let’s be clear, what’s
really deplorable is that Donald Trump hired a major advocate for the so-called
“alt-right” movement to run his campaign, and that David Duke and other white
supremacists see him as a champion of their values. I won’t stop calling out bigotry and racist
rhetoric in this campaign…As I said, many of Trump’s supporters are hard-working
Americans who just don’t feel like the economy or our political system are
working for them.”
This statement is not an apology. She regretted saying “half” because that was “wrong.” Okay, so what is the correct proportion:
two-thirds, three-quarters, forty-seven percent? She regretted the proportion, she did not
regret the characterization. That’s the
plain English of it, and you always have to be careful to parse the statement
from a Clinton. She said the proportion
was wrong, but not the slander. These ‘deplorable’
people were “irredeemable” and “not American” she said further, and did not
retract or regret saying that.
Hillary has been using the basket of deplorables slander for
weeks, but this was the first time she was publicized saying it – reading it
off a teleprompter in prepared remarks at a big fundraiser. This was no off-hand mistake. This is clear insight into her true thinking.
After having said she regretted quoting a proportion (but
not offering a more accurate one), she then launched into an attack on Donald
Trump entirely in the spirit of his being deplorable and his followers being
deplorable. Speaking of deplorable…..
Look closely at the reasoning Hillary uses to besmirch Trump
and people who support him. That many of
Trump’s supporters are “hard-working Americans who just feel like the economy
or our political system are working for them,” counts for nothing. David Duke and his handful of supporters saying that
they like Trump is all that matters. All
those hard-working Americans are tarred with the same brush as David Duke. Hillary says she won’t stop calling out bigotry
and racist rhetoric in the campaign – except for hers.
Thanks to a private individual who recorded Hillary’s
collapse yesterday, Hillary’s campaign was forced to announce that her health
was not as good as they had said it was.
To question Hillary’s coughing before yesterday was to receive a rebuke
from a campaign spokesliar. For hours after
her collapse hit the airwaves, the campaign said nothing to explain Hillary’s
condition. They lied and said she was
“overheated.” Finally, it was revealed
that she had been diagnosed with pneumonia - on Friday. And the campaign said nothing about it. In the heat of a political campaign for
president, not updating the press on the health of the candidate is tantamount
to a lie and a cover-up. A material
change in her physical condition went unreported, and those who questioned what
they saw with their own lyin’ eyes were rebuked. One wonders if the media will take exception
to this latest example of Hillary’s deceptive behavior, or if they will just
roll over again for her.
If Hillary Clinton is sincere about anything, it is in her
elitism and snobbery. She will tell you
what you need to know, and you need to know nothing more. Hillary and those around her have little respect
for most people, and they look down their noses upon those who support Donald
Trump. And she is the one who says we are “stronger together!”
To Hillary, scores of millions of Americans are
irredeemable, deplorable, and not American.
But 11 million illegal immigrants and 550,000 Syrians are hunky-dory.
This is what earnest, incoherent moralism looks like.
