Trudeau proves mandates useless "Idiot with power"

Vincent J. Curtis

31 Jan 22

RE: Trudeau tests positive for COVID-19.  CBC news item 31 Jan 22.

After isolating himself for four days with his infected kid, Trudeau finally managed to test positive for COVID despite being double vaxxed and boosted.  That means he gets to stay in hiding.

By getting infected, Trudeau just proved that vaxxing and boosting don’t prevent getting infected (the previous point of vaccinations), and by isolating Trudeau shows in practice that he believes that being vaxxed and boosted doesn’t prevent him from infecting others.  In short, Trudeau is proving that vaccines are useless to prevent the spread, and it is these useless vaccines that he is mandating on truckers - to prevent the spread!

This is irrational.  Intelligent people resent being mandated by irrational idiots with power.  This master of the science is proving he is master of nothing.

Trudeau, truckers, and science

Vincent J. Curtis

28 Jan 22

Just before he began isolating himself, Prime Minister Trudeau declared that the truckers held ‘unacceptable views” and that he understood the science.  Trudeau is the guy who, despite being vaxxed, boosted, wearing a mask and testing negative, is isolating himself after exposure to his asymptomatic kid.  As science, that’s irrational; as politics it’s yellow.

It is now widely acknowledge that the vaccination does not prevent infection and does not prevent a vaccinated and infected person from spreading the virus.  Even boosted people famously suffer breakthrough infections, like Trudeau is hoping he has.  The only benefit now alleged for getting vaccinated and boosted is that infections are mild, and hospitalization less likely.  This vaccine in which Trudeau himself shows no faith is what he mandates on truckers.

Unvaxxed truckers entering Canada are expected to quarantine for fourteen days, while vaxxed and boosted truckers can sail on through.  But why?  The vaccines only limit the severity of the illness, they don’t prevent infection or spread.  So, to protect the Canadian public from truckers bring in and spreading the virus in Canada, both vaxxed and unvaxxed should be isolated because being vaxxed and boosted says nothing about one’s infection status and ability to pass on the infection.  Mandating a rapid test for all might make sense, but not mandating vaccination.  This is basic, rational reasoning.  And if a trucker entering Canada tests negative for the virus, regardless of whether he is vaxxed or unvaxxed – he’s not infected and therefore can’t transmit the infection.  An uninfected trucker has no virus to spread.  That too is basic rational reasoning.

If you want to argue about reduced likelihood of hospitalization, that has nothing to do with mandating vaccination of truckers because the mandate is about preventing importation, not hospitalization.  Besides, most truckers are under 60 years old, don’t suffer from multiple co-morbidities, and hence are unlikely to require hospitalization even if infected.

And let’s look at a trucker’s working conditions.  He’s alone in his cab for up to twelve hours a day, and will sleep in the bunk behind his cab.  When he drops off his trailer and picks up another, he interacts with few people, usually in wide open spaces.  The only places he might contact people in close quarters are in the customs offices – with other truckers – and in truck stop restaurants – with other truckers.  The opportunity for catching and transmitting the virus are limited.  It would be hard to come up with data that shows that truckers are a significant cause of importation and spread.  Truckers didn’t import and spread the Omicron variant.

The mandate, therefore, is irrational and cannot possibly be based on science.  There’s no data to support mandating that truckers be vaxxed or face quarantine.  There’s no rationality to support vaccination to prevent the spread, because, as we’ve observed and as Trudeau himself professes by his actions, the vaccines do not induce herd immunity and they lack endurance.  There being no rational or scientific basis for mandating vaccination of truckers, the only reason for mandates is the irrational demand that they conform to an ideological opinion as others have conformed.  Trudeau’s fear is that if they aren’t mandated his political weapon and control will be lost.

Prime Minister Trudeau found work in politics because he wasn’t good at teaching drama.  His claim of understanding the science better than others is sheer, self-flattering hooey.

Colour Trudeau Yellow

Vincent J. Curtis

28 Jan 22

Thursday last, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau showed his true colours to the world: yellow.  Faced with tens of thousands of muscular truckers petitioning for redress of grievance, the slender Mr. Trudeau came down with a case of the vapours and will be indisposed for as long as the truckers are around.

Doubled vaxxed, boosted, and wearing a mask, Mr. Trudeau alleges he encountered a COVID positive person and, despite testing negative himself, is doing the responsible thing by entering quarantine.  No word on who the COVID positive person was, but they must have been asymptomatic because a sneezing, coughing sniffling person gets nowhere near the PM.

Meanwhile, the Dauphin’s picadors, the media, are all agog about ‘extremists’ in the truckers’ midst.  No word on what that extremism amount to, but one is left with the impression that the extremist views in question form the heart of the protest: that vaccines shouldn’t be mandated.  There’s no proof of efficacy, that mandates stop the spread.  Truckers weren’t responsible for the spread of Omicron, and we have a year’s worth of experience to show that vaccination status of truckers, as they carry goods to market, matters nothing in the spread.  Mandating vaccines now, as Omicron begins to wane, seems more like enforcing social conformity based on ideology, not science.

The effete drama teacher in his breathiest voice claims that the truckers have ‘unacceptable views’ in the Canadian democracy and don’t represent the views of Canadians.  Meanwhile, he, the Dauphin, understands true science.  Hence, the truckers must be cancelled.

Conservative leader Erin O’Toole does plan to meet the truckers to hear their grievances and speak to them, and the media picadors are seeing to it that he’s cancelled too.  Cancel, cancel, cancel!  It used to be that the evil attached to the views, not the person, but no longer in Canadian democracy.  Only acceptable views can be accommodated.  No grievances from those with unacceptable views will be heard, never mind redressed on the merits.

In mandating vaccines, the governing powers became possessed of a madness.  If vaccines are good, enough people will get them.  But vaccination became political, and so now political means will be employed to enforce taking them, regardless of facts, data, and science.  Actual immune status from recovery is of absolutely no account, and Omicron is wildly contagious and extremely mild.

Colour Trudeau yellow.  Let his media picadors discredit the truckers’ rally.  But Trudeau’s real colour won’t be forgotten.

Trudeau shows no faith in vaccines, masks

Vincent J. Curtis

27 Jan 22

Just the other day, Dr. Anthony Fauci announced the withdrawal of the first generation of monoclonal antibodies as a therapeutic against the Omicron variant.  Fauci said that these first generation products were developed against the alpha variant and were not effective against Omicron.  However, the mRNA vaccines were also developed against the alpha variant and, by the same reasoning, ought to have been withdrawn as well.  They weren’t, and Fauci didn’t say why.  Too embarrassing, I guess, to leave the Biden Administration without approved vaccines as Biden seeks to mandate vaccination.  Hence the madcap vaxxing and boosting campaign continues - in spite of rising evidence of a boomerang effect of using them.

The mRNA vaccines of Pfizer and Moderna wouldn’t be approved if brought to the market today against the Omicron variant for lack of efficacy.  They’ve already been proven to lack endurance, with Israel already giving a second booster shot, i.e. a fourth dose, against unprecedented hospitalization of Omicron cases there.  The vaccines don’t prevent infection, don’t prevent the spread of the infection, and didn’t induce herd immunity. Against Omicron, booster shots seem to produce barely thirty days of addition protection.

A boomerang effect occurs when an immune system, boosted against alpha, responds to an Omicron infection with anti-bodies against alpha.  You get all the complications of heightened immune response without the benefit of destroying the infection.  This could explain why boosters are proving ineffective, and may be producing more severe hospitalizations despite the fact that Omicron is less severe to the unvaxxed than alpha and delta are.

Today, Prime Minister Trudeau demonstrated complete lack of faith in his own policies of vaxxing, boosting, mask wearing, and testing.  He encountered an asymptomatic COVID carrier and is now isolating, despite testing negative.  We don’t know for certain how long he’s self-quarantining, it's allegedly for five days (it may depend on the truckers!).  But if vaxxing, boosting, and mask wearing were worth anything, what’s to fear an exposure to the least dangerous of COVId carriers – an asymptomatic one?

Maybe it’s the encounter with the truckers that gives rise to this example of yellow-bellied cowardice, or of responsible citizenship, as you prefer.

Spec blows major scoop

Vincent J. Curtis

26 Jan 22

RE: Province failing its duty to protect.  Op-ed by Patty Coates, President of the Ontario Federation of Labour

I posted an article on this blog on 2 Aug 2020, entitled “The futility of masking.”  It reported the same thing that the column of today (at reference) reports.  In particular, that the virus is transported as like an airborne dust, and that N95 masks are the minimum protection against that size of airborne pathogen.  Cloth and surgical masks will only give a false sense of security.  The Spectator was sent a copy of that blog entry.  But in the interests of the narrative of the day and preventing the dissemination of “misinformation” the Spec suppressed the piece.  The Spectator could have had the truth out there in black and white 18 months ago.  Something Ontario’s benighted “experts” might have had to confront.  But no.

You know why Labour people know about N95s, ventilation, and other measures of protection?  Because protection against dust is a big problem in Industrial Hygiene – keeping workers safe in the workplace while exposed to high levels of dust.  Just like the virus is transported – as a fine particle in air.  That’s how I knew about them!

That the virus was transmitted as a dust was so obvious that only a medical expert couldn’t see it.  The pandemic wasn’t persisting and spreading because people were sneezing on each other!  So, what else could it be but that expelled viruses persisted in the air for long periods of time?  As a 2nd year chemistry student can tell you, the vapour pressure over a sharply curved surface is very high, meaning the force for liquid in the tiny droplet to pass into the vapour phase is very strong.  Any liquid surrounding the virus would quickly evaporate.  You can observe this phenomenon in cold air when the moisture in your breath condenses into fog.  That fog just as quickly disappears because the water droplets evaporate nearly instantly once they move into dry enough air. Sharply curved water droplets in air don’t persist as flat surfaced water puddles or patches of ice persist.

This is basic, 2nd year thermodynamics, and if the quote of him in the article is accurate, Dr. Moore never took thermodynamics in school, and neither did any of his colleagues.  So, what are their credentials really worth when they missed the course that would have given them the answer right away?  By August, 2020, the persistence of the pandemic in the face of all the measures to prevent its spread pointed to something important: that they had got wrong how it was spreading and at what the actual mechanism must be, i.e. as if it were a dry dust.

But the credentialed experts were too proud to admit they were completely at sea, and didn’t call in experts who might have been able to help: industrial hygienists and people generally who dealt with issues similar to this in the workplace.  They had to pretend to know, when they didn’t know and ought to have known that they didn’t.

It was known in April 2020 that lockdowns were more harmful than COVID itself on public health generally- as well as useless in the face of something so contagious, but the benighted experts continued to advise lockdowns anyway.   Even after the data from wave 2 showed that lockdowns promoted the spread for the first 3 weeks!  They locked down outdoors activities and parks in wave 1!  Have you heard any mea culpas yet from any of the experts who first ordered it?  No!  Because it might undermine their aura of expertise!

A long time ago the Spectator could have had the story, but they didn’t listen.  The Spec had a major scoop on its hands, and the editors let it slip through their fingers.

The government needs more power to fight hate!

Vincent J. Curtis

25 Jan 22

RE: More tools needed to fight hate.  Editorial The Hamilton Spectator 25 Jan 22.

As the Spectator continues to promote the global warming hypothesis with pictures of enormous piles of unshovelled snow and reports of -21℃ temperatures, it turns to another favorite topic: hate.  Hate is bad.  Hate is to be condemned.  Government needs more powers to combat hate.

Even as the Spectator promotes a hate the unvaxxed campaign!  The unaxxed are racists and misogynists, says the Prime Minister.  The unvaxxed should be denied health care, even for appendicitis or a broken wrist.  The unvaxxed should be confined to the homes and denied opportunity to shop for food.  In fact, the unvaxxed should be taken to special camps.  It doesn’t matter if the unvaxxed are recovered from a COVID infection, or not, or how young and healthy they are.  Forget about our prior beliefs of medical ethics concerning forced medical procedures.  This emergency is just too damned important to follow the rule of law, or even laws of basic decency!

Hate is further promoted in the panic-porn campaign over COVID.  The average age of death is 80, and generally is of frail people with 4, 6 or more co-morbidities, but the age risk of COVID usually goes ignored.  Everyone isn’t at risk.  Seasonal influenza is more dangerous to those under 40 than COVID is, but these facts don’t matter.  Gotta keep the scare in people.  And keeping up a hate campaign against the unvaxxed and anti-mandate types is one way of doing it.

Analysis of a Land Acknowledgement

Vincent J. Curtis

24 Jan 22

The text of the land acknowledgement runs as follows;

“As members and guests of [name of parish], we acknowledge that the lands we live, work and meet on are the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron, Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississauga. This land is covered by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, which was an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabek to share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. We further acknowledge that this land is covered by the Between the Lakes Purchase, 1792, between the Crown and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. As settlers it is our responsibility to learn about and acknowledge our colonial history and the ways in which we continue to perpetuate it. As people of faith working for justice, we are called to discern how we are to respond to the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission”

This land acknowledgement is intended to be recited in the city of Hamilton, Ontario, before an exclusively non-aboriginal audience, of members of a club to each other.

Analysis:  Hamilton was never Haudenosaunee (i.e Mohawk, Iroquois) territory.  The Iroquois lived in New York State and only passed through Hamilton to slaughter the Erie, Neutral, Wendat, and Huron.  The last slaughter, as Hamilton’s Roman Catholics know, occurred in 1648, that wiped out the Hurons and produced the Canadian Martyrs, such as Fr. Jean de Brebeuf.  Afterwards, the Iroquois withdrew back to New York.

The Mississaugas, a few thousand strong, moved into the area of Ontario south and west of a line from the eastern end of Lake Ontario to the southern part of Georgian Bay - after the area had been conveniently cleared of Hurons by the Iroquois!  There never have been Indian settlements excavated in the lower city of Hamilton.

It is noteworthy that, in terms of land possession, the period between 1650 and 1792 is but 142 years.  Between 1792 and 2022 lie 230 years.  Hamilton has been in the possession of the Crown for almost a century longer than the Mississaugas possessed it.

The Dish with One Spoon treaty is an oral tradition binding on its signatories (so to speak), and we aren’t one of them.  The Peace of Paris of 1763 also covers this area, and is the treaty (in black and white) relevant to us because it put the Hamilton area under the British Crown and took it away from the French monarchy.  We don’t expect the Peace of Paris to concern the Indians, so why should we be concerned about an oral tradition among Indians?  (It is noteworthy that the Dish with One Spoon treaty is between the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabek, because they had annihilated all the others.)

The Between the Lakes Purchase, as the name says, indicates that the British Crown bought the land in question.  That means the Mississaugas ceded it.  That’s what a purchase agreement means, the transfer of real property in exchange for money.  It became ours.  And 230 years on it’s still ours.

It simply makes no sense to say that because we bought parcels of land from Indians, that “it is our responsibility to learn about and acknowledge our colonial history and the ways in which we continue to perpetuate it.”  ‘We’ didn’t colonize.  The Crown bought the land.  In what way are we today perpetuating colonization, notwithstanding that the Crown legally purchased the land we’re on and never colonized in the first place?  We’re not squatting on Indian land!  Depending on how you count, I’m the sixth generation to have lived in Hamilton.  I’m six generations removed from being a ‘settler.’  I’m not perpetuating colonization.  How long does it take to be a native of Hamilton?

‘We’ aren’t squatting on Indian land.  We bought this legally from the Mississaugas, the Indians in actual possession of the land when British authorities arrived here.  Settling on your own land isn’t colonizing.  We can’t be perpetuating an injustice when no injustice was ever committed in the first place!

As people of faith, it is our moral responsibility not to tell lies, to bear false witness against our neighbours, and it is false witness against our neighbours to accuse them of committing an injustice by living their lives in Hamilton, and to accuse them of ‘perpetuating’ the injustice of colonization.

I’m sorry, United Empire Loyalists were pouring into British North America after the American Revolution, and British authorities bought land from the Indians so the UEs could have a legitimate place to settle.  Immigrants to Hamilton from the 1830s arrived at a place already well settled by people of British or American extraction, and those of us who are their descendants didn’t have a say in where we were born.  I simply can’t see how my mere existence here constitutes an injustice against people who don’t live here, and never have.

Conclusion:  There is no factual or rational basis to conclude that white people need to feel guilty about squatting on unceded, Indian land.  The land was ceded.  It’s been in possession of the Crown for longer than it was in possession of the Indians it was bought from.  Since this recitation of sackcloth and ashes isn’t expected to be made before an audience of aboriginals, what is the point of it except to lay a guilt-trip on people who never committed an injustice and aren’t the descendants of people who committed an injustice?

This is nothing but a weird guilt-trip that’s expected to soften up the reciters psychologically for conclusions altogether too obvious, such as, why aren’t you giving it back?  (But you can ease your conscience with a few million dollars!)
